Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs)

14 Jun 2021 | Machine

G3 have extensive experience when it comes to Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) assembly/disassembly and we possess the crews and equipment ready for mobilisation. This includes fully stocked site containers with specialised equipment & tooling to get the job done with maximum efficiency.

G3 are proud to be engaged on the Cross River Rail Project for shield welding on the TBMs. G3 worked closely with the principal contractor CBGU JV and the OEM Herrenchnect to weld the shield plates on the two 7.2m TBMs that entered the portal at Woolloongabba and are currently heading north to the city centre.

Project features:

  • Works were completed incident free & ahead of schedule.
  • Welding was 60mm wall thickness butt welded together with FCAW process.

G3 was previously engaged for assembly/disassembly of two Robbins TBMs at Grosvenor Mine. We worked closely with Redpath Mining and Anglo American to successfully deliver that project.

If you have a tunnel project coming up, don’t take any chances… contact the team at G3 and get access to a wealth of underground experience.
